Climate – The shade net creates a micro climate inside the mini tunnel due to the shade and protection against strong winds that the net provides. This protection in turn improves photosynthesis which improves vegetative growth of the plants and quality of products grown in the mini tunnel. The shade net will however still allow rain water to enter your mini tunnel, whereas similar Poly tunnels and glass green houses will not allow rain water to enter.
Temperature – The shade net blocks some of the harmful rays from the sun and thereby improves humidity by lessening evaporation of water (irrigation). The shade net also protects plants and products from extreme cold temperatures to some extent by lowering the velocity of cold winds entering the mini tunnel. Temperature inside the mini tunnel can be controlled by opening the shade net at the ends of the mini tunnel to allow wind to move through the mini tunnel on very warm days.
Protection – The shade net in mini tunnels will keep hail, snow and ice rain away from plants and products. Any of these conditions could wipe out your entire crop in extreme conditions. The mini tunnel will prevent insect and pest invasions, and the fruits and vegetables can also be protected from of animals that are drawn to fruits and/or vegetables.
